OTTAWA, ON (February 6, 2026) – The Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) is pleased to support the 92 coaches attending the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games. Today’s Opening Ceremony marks the official start to the Games, which will run until February 22.

Coaches representing Canada at the Olympic Games complete a comprehensive training and screening process and must hold a Registered Coach license with the CAC. Among Canada’s coaches, 40 have Chartered Professional Coach (ChPC®) designation, the highest professional status a coach can achieve based on ethical, educational and experience standards. These designations are issued via the CAC’s Professional Coaching Program.

“To represent Canada on the Olympic stage is a remarkable achievement,” said Isabelle Cayer, Executive Director of Programs and Partnerships. “These coaches exemplify the very best of Canadian sport—placing athlete well-being at the centre of performance while leading with integrity, care, and purpose. Their impact reaches far beyond the Games, inspiring athletes and communities across the country and representing the values that define Canadian sport.”

At the Games, Canada is represented by 16% of coaches who identify as women and 84% who identify as men. The largest contingent of coaches come from Ice Hockey and Alpine Skiing (each 14) followed by Snowboarding and Freestyle Skiing (each 11) and then Figure Skating (7).

“Coaches are an integral part of every athlete’s journey to the Olympics,” says Lorraine Lafrenière, Chief Executive Officer of the CAC. “Their commitment to their sport and their athletes’ well-being and performance is a direct reflection of the passion they hold for coaching.”

The CAC wishes the coaches and athletes the best of luck at the Games.
