Ottawa, ON, September 15, 2025 – The Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) and its National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) partners invite Canadians from coast to coast to coast to join in celebrating the remarkable contributions of coaches during National Coaches Week, taking place September 15–21, 2025.

Now in its 11th year, National Coaches Week shines a spotlight on the vital role coaches play in shaping athletes’ lives and fostering safe, inclusive, and positive sport experiences across Canada. Coaches are mentors, motivators, and community builders who help participants of all ages and abilities develop not only athletic skills, but also values like confidence, respect, and teamwork.

“National Coaches Week is our opportunity to say thank you to the dedicated coaches who give so much of themselves to make sport a positive and meaningful experience for individuals from coast to coast to coast,” says Lorraine Lafrenière, CEO of the CAC. “This celebration honours their impact, from grassroots community programs to high-performance sport, and recognizes their role in shaping stronger, healthier communities across the country.”

“Coaches inspire, guide, and motivate athletes to get the most out of themselves, day in and day out, race after race, game after game,” adds the Honourable Adam van Koeverden, Secretary of State (Sport). “Coaches work to create welcoming environments where everyone belongs, thrives, and develops their skills. Their tireless dedication helps support our athletes and brings communities closer together from coast to coast to coast. Thank you, coaches!”

The week will once again feature free NCCP eLearning modules, giving coaches an opportunity to diversify their knowledge as part of this national celebration.

Coaches can log into the Locker to access these free modules on their respective days.

National Coaches Week is also supported by partners at all levels of Canada’s sport system, including National Sport Organizations (NSOs), Provincial/Territorial Sport Organizations (P/TSOs), Aboriginal Sport Bodies (ASBs), and Provincial/Territorial Coaching Representatives (P/TCRs). The campaign encourages athletes, parents, and volunteers to take part by simply saying #ThanksCoach, whether in person or on social media.

Everyone is invited to get involved:

  • Say #ThanksCoach: A simple message of gratitude goes a long way.
  • Explore the updated participation guide: Access social media graphics, templates, and ideas to help celebrate the coaches in your community.
  • Follow along on social media: Join the conversation on FacebookInstagram, and X (formerly Twitter) using #CoachesWeek and #ThanksCoach.
