Number of People

How it Works

Each group holds hands in a circle. One player remains outside of the circle. They are “IT”, or the cat.

The group designates one player who is part of the circle to be the “mouse” or the person to be tagged.

On “GO”, the “cat” moves around the outside of the circle, trying to tag the “mouse”, while the members of the circle spin to protect the “mouse”.
The “cat” may not go through, over, or under the circle, only around the outside edge.
Switch roles of cat and mouse after the mouse is caught OR if the round continues longer than 30 to 45 sec. Give all athletes a chance to be either the cat or mouse (or both).

Applications Agility, team building, foot speed, lateral movement, balance, speed of movement

Athletes can hold onto scarves or towels if they are not comfortable holding hands (between people).

Change group sizes. Larger groups produce different movement patterns than smaller groups.
Use in all environments: field, court, pool, snow, ice, gym.
