Canada Snowboard offers the following NCCP workshops:
Competition Introduction: This 3-day in-class and on-snow workshop is the first step towards becoming a snowboard coach. Designed for coaches working with competitors of all ages that are new to the competitive side of snowboarding, this workshop focuses on teaching the basics of all competitive snowboard disciplines (alpine, snowboard cross, and freestyle), while also giving coaches the information they need to plan for, and attend, competitive events with their athletes.
Competition Introduction Advanced: This 5-day in-class and on-snow workshop is the next step in the snowboard coaches pathway and focuses on event specialization, such as freestyle (half-pipe, big air, slope-style) and speed (snowboard cross (SBX), parallel giant slalom (PGS), parallel slalom (PSL)) events. This level of coach typically works with competitors of all ages who are building a career on the competitive side of snowboarding. In addition to learning how to run a practice session specifically tailored to athlete goals, biomechanical principles and season preparation and training will also be covered.
