Piggyback Relay

How it Works

Have players pair up (ideally with a partner that is similar in size and weight) and have them stand on the starting line with each partner “piggybacking” their partner. Have them run from start to finish, switch the carrier, and return to the start line.


Power, strength



Groups of three (alternate on return) with multiple trips involved. Run to the end and back with the same carrier running. This activity could be used on ice by pulling teammate (standing, squatting, laying down) as they hold onto each other’s sticks like they are pulling a wheelbarrow and skate to the predetermined goal.
