Mike Shaw has a background in action sports, performance athletics, and coaching. He has a unique story of triumph that embodies human resilience in its purest form, and it fuels his passion to help people improve their safety and performance.
In 2007, he left competitive skiing due to broken bones and torn ligaments, but by 2013, he bounced back to coach to some of Canada’s top half pipe skiers.
In December 2013, Mike suffered an accident that would change his life forever. While performing a routine trick, he landed in some soft snow causing him to pitch violently forward. In a ‘scorpion-like’ crash he dislocated his neck, instantly paralyzing him from the neck down.
Three months after his crash, Mike would defy all the odds and walk out of the hospital. On the one-year anniversary of his crash, Mike stepped back into his skis on Whistler Mountain.
In his talks, he shares a gracious perspective that will inspire you, motivate you, and leave you with an unforgettable learning experience.
