Melanie Melanson is passionate about teaching, which explains her natural draw to coaching. With a Bachelor of Education degree with a major in Secondary Education from Crandall University, and an athletic background as a competitive swimmer, Melanson’s role as a coach in swimming was a natural fit.
Currently, the University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds assistant coach and assistant coach for the Fredericton Aquanauts, Melanson has woven her passion for coaching into her career. She has spent time coaching volleyball and cross country running for her local high school as well as working on teaching the fundamentals of swimming to 6-10 year olds.
When asked what motivated her, she answered: “I want to give as many children as possible the chance to experience what I as a child got to experience [in swimming]. It was such a positive, life changing process for me, and I will do everything I can to pass that on to others.”
