The goal of this NCCP Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS) Workshop is to expose participants to a process that will teach and improve fundamental movement skills for children. The Workshop consists of 12 units. Each unit is approximately 45 minutes long which allows for easy adaptation into a secondary school curriculum. Each unit focuses on a specific aspect of teaching movement skills or on a specific movement skill. The units give students many opportunities to assess and improve their teaching of fundamental movement skills as well as leadership skills such as activity delivery and effective communication.
The Workshop is part of the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP), a training and certification program offered in over 66 sports in Canada. More than 1,000,000 coaches and sport leaders have taken part in training, education, and certification activities offered by the NCCP since its inception in 1974. The National Coaching Certification Program is a collaborative program of the government of Canada, provincial/territorial governments, national/provincial/territorial sport organizations, and the Coaching Association of Canada.
