Athlete’s Checklist

The following checklist can help you determine whether or not you should seek nutritional counselling. If you answer “yes” to any of the following questions, you may benefit from a nutritional consultation with a dietitian who has met the criteria of the CAC Sport Nutrition Registry or who is affiliated with your Canadian Sport Centre.

Have food allergies, intolerances, or sensitivities?
Struggle to maintain your weight?
Feel you need to lose weight?
Feel you need to gain weight?
Have a diagnosed or suspected nutrient deficiency?
Compete in a sport with weight classification?
Compete in a sport that emphasizes low body weight?
Compete in a team sport?
Have irregular menstrual cycles?
Get stress fractures?
Get sick frequently (e.g. a cold or flu)?
Recover slowly after being ill?
Practice/compete in hot and/or humid environments?
Practice/compete in cold and/or dry environments?
Suffer from unusal fatigue before workouts or competition?
Suffer from unusal fatigue during workouts or competition?
Suffer from unusal fatigue after workouts or competition?
Experience inconsistencies in training and/or competition?
Take dietary supplements?
Regularly travel out of town to train or compete?
Have any specific dietary or health concerns?
Are you 16 years of age or younger?
