scholarships are awarded on an annual basis only. Please
note that NCI directors are only required to submit
the names of the coaches re-applying for a second WiC

Program description for 2010-2011
Scholarships are awarded annually to women coaches
who attend one of seven NCIs located across Canada.
Women coaches are eligible for a Women in Coaching NCI
scholarship if they meet the following minimum criteria:
- Canadian citizen or landed immigrant currently coaching
Canadian athletes
- NCCP Level 3 certified
- National Sport Organization (NSO) approved Level
4 candidate (if applicable) or approved to attend the NCI for completion of the Coaching Diploma Program
- Has been accepted into the Diploma Program at one
of the seven NCIs across Canada.
Candidates meeting the minimum criteria will be further
considered using the following criteria:
Each NCI is eligible for up to $6,000 in scholarship
awards. However, an NCI will not receive more funds
than there are candidates. For example, an NCI with
one eligible candidate in the two-year program would
receive a single $1,500 scholarship.
Should there be unspent scholarship funds once each
NCI has been awarded the minimum for which they are
eligible, additional scholarships would be awarded to
the next ranked candidates nominated by their NCI who
have not yet been awarded a scholarship.
